Christmas around the world is a time for family, food and lots of television. But some countries have some more unusual Christmas traditions, too. Let’s find out about a few of them.

Britain: Christmas Crackers

Christmas is not Christmas in the UK without Christmas crackers on the table. This tradition goes back to the 1800s and is still a big part of Christmas today. Crackers are colourful paper tubes that two people pull. Each person takes one end of the cracker and pulls it until it breaks with a bang. Inside the cracker there is a paper crown to wear, a little toy and a joke to read. But the jokes are always terrible. Like, for example: What do you call a reindeer who cannot see? No-eye deer! (No idea). Ouch.
